Femtosecond Laser System Laser Freeze Protection Tips

Operating and storing the laser and water-cooled system at temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius will cause the laser and water-cooled piping to freeze, as the density of ice is less than that of water, it will lead to rupture or deformation of the piping inside the laser and water-cooled system due to expansion in volume, and the rupture will open up the machine and cause the coolant to overflow, which will lead to significant damage to the relevant core components, so it is necessary to do the correct antifreezing measures.


1. Strictly according to the storage temperature and working temperature to store and use the laser and water system, should try to ensure that the ambient temperature can not be lower than 5 degrees Celsius;


2. the coolant in the equipment must be eliminated cleanly as required during transport, and circulated and drained with antifreeze for a second time.


Laser system is not used for a long time when the anti-freeze method:


1. first release the water inside the water tank according to the usual method. 2;


2. and then try to empty the water in the pipeline, the use of <0.4MPa compressed gas (or nitrogen) on the water inlet and outlet ventilation, until the water in the pipeline is basically discharged out until; or with a household hoover (with suction function) on the water inlet and outlet suction until the water in the pipeline is basically discharged out;


3. Inject 0.5L-1L of Antifrogen®L propylene glycol-water type (food grade, harmless to human body) or a mixture of alcohol (70%) and water (30%) into the water tank (when the conditions are simple, you can inject a high number of white wine), and turn on the water pump to circulate for 1 minute only, and then repeat Step 2;


4. Remove the water pipe of the water inlet and outlet at the laser end, use <0.4MPa compressed gas to ventilate the inlet and outlet respectively until the water in the internal water circuit of the laser is blown out; or use a household hoover (with a water suction function) to suction the inlet and outlet until the water in the pipeline is basically discharged;


5. Open the filter, the drain valve under the cartridge or the Plexiglas shell to remove the residual water;


6. Blow out the water from the laser and other water pipes outside the water-cooling system (repeatedly). 7;


7. Finally, the disassembled parts, all the installation restoration fastening.   


Attention:


1. pay special attention to the water-cooled system, if a period of time is not used to refill the water, before starting the pump must be exhaust, so that the water into the water pump, otherwise it will damage the water pump;


2. for water-cooled system with antifreeze added, please pay attention to replace it with normal cooling water when it is cold, and before changing water, please flush the antifreeze in the whole water tank and pipeline completely, and then only change water normally. Replace the filter element at the same time as the water change.
